This was announced during a meeting of the Quran memorization and recitation commission of an international Quranic conference held in Tehran on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, Mohammad Taqi Mirzajani, the education, research and communications deputy of Iran’s Supreme Council of Quran highlighted some of the accomplishment that Iran has made over the past four decades.

He said the country has managed to train thousands of Quran reciters and now there are some 1,000 professional qaris and Quran masters in Iran.

He added that Iranian qaris and memorizers have managed to win more than 250 titles in international Quran competitions since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The Islamic Republic’s international Quran competitions are also among the most prestigious in the Muslim world, with the country hosting seven international Quranic events every year, including those for adults, school students, university students, and the visually impaired, he noted.

Referring to Quranic activities, Mirzajani said that just in the holy month of Ramadan, some 10,000 Quranic programs are organized in different parts of the country.

He also said that one of the main long-term Quranic plans in the country is the one for training ten million memorizers of the Holy Quran, which has been emphasized by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Also speaking at the meeting was Hossein Behboudi, an official with the Dar-ol-Quran Karim Organization, who said one of the main missions of the organization is developing public Quranic education.

He said more than 10,000 Quran teaching sessions in homes are held in the country under the supervision of the Dar-ol-Quran Karim Organization.
